most impressive and hardest to
reach. Barton
Creek Cave,
is more easily accessible by canoeing or kayaking. CheChem
ha
is
a dry cave in the Maya Mountains of
the upper Macal river valley.

In
the heart of the Belizean rainforest are many impressive caves. These
caves were sacred places to the prehistoric Maya of Belize, where
sacrificial ceremonies were conducted. Inside some caves rests the
undisturbed sacrificial remains of individuals, altars, stone carvings
and pottery. These tours gives you an opportunity to travel into the
Mayan past and witness a living museum in their original context.
Some cave entrances are easily accessible by vehicle while others
require a
trek through dense jungle and streams. For each tour, you will be
outfitted
with the necessary equipment.
